Wilkes Univeristy Looking To Expand Science And Engineering Building

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) - Wilkes Barre leaders applied for a three million dollar grant on behalf of a local university for an expansion project.

On Thursday, city council voted to apply for money through the state's redevelopment assistance capital program to help Wilkes University expand its science and engineering building.

The multi-million dollar project will include adding new bio engineering labs and nano technology labs. The university has to match the grant money with three million dollars.

If it all goes as planned...construction is expected to begin in the spring of next year.
