Wilkes-Barre Police Investigate Reported Rape Of 9 Year Old Girl

Wilkes-Barre Police say they are looking into the reported rape of a 9 year old girl. The alleged attack took place at about 5:30 pm Monday in the 100 block of South Sherman Street, Detectives are not saying much about the case only that it is very active. The girl is from Hanover Township and her mother called police to report the alleged rape. Carrie Modzelewski lives with her two young sons on Sherman Street and told Eyewitness News, "It is really scary to think that I have to worry about by two young boys in their own backyard. I see some weird people walking through the alley all the time." Lamar Lawrence added, "I have cameras on my house because I just see too many creepy people walking by here. My car was broken into and I think this rape case just shows how bad this neighborhood is getting." If you have any information about the case you are urged to all 9-1-1.
