Long time Wilkes-Barre police chief Gerard Dessoye is retiring. Dessoye, a member of the International Police Hall of Fame will step down from the job September 14th. He joined the Wilkes-Barre Police Department in 1981 as a patrolman. He later served as Captain of Detectives before becoming Chief in 2004. Wilkes-barre Mayor Thomas Leighton said "Chief Dessoye had a truly commendable career with the Wilkes-Barre Police Department and serving the community," Kings College announced Dessoye has been appointed Executive Director of Campus Safety and Security.
