Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority Receives Grant

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) Senior Citizens living in Luzerne County can look forward to seeing improvements in services.

Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority received a federal grant for $210,000 to support a residency program. The resident opportunities and self-sufficiency grant enables public housing organizations to hire a service coordinator.

The coordinator will links residents to a variety of resources including educational opportunities, job placement organizations and health care providers.

 "We want them to maintain their independence in their home. We are going to provide services from a to z. medical to transportation "we're going to do a needs assessment with our residents and hopefully expand some of the services the community offers to the elderly "  said Judy Kosloski, Executive Director Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority.

The grant money expires in three years.
