Long Pond, Monroe County - A  busy stretch of a Monroe County road will soon be wider.  Route 115 in Blakeslee and Long Pond, leading up to Pocono Raceway, is a nightmare come race time, but Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett is working to fix that.

Monday, he announced a plan to alleviate some of the congestion.  He pledged $5 million in transportation infrastructure funds to widen Route 115, between Route 903 and the raceway, this year.  "Pocono Raceway provides that economic impact that is the equivalent to holding the Super bowl in Pennsylvania every year," says Governor Corbett.

Jon Evans, of Blakeslee, says "we need the revenue from the track, to put it bluntly, the township needs it, so we don't want to detract on that, but yet at the same time there is no solution to the traffic problem."  Those who live and work in the area say the project will help to some extent, but may not solve the problem all together.

A study also released Monday by East Stroudsburg University predicts that Pocono Raceway will bring $277 million to the area this year.  When the work begins 115 will remain open.
