Voters meet the candidates in Lackawanna County

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) -- Election Day is less than two weeks away, and voters in Lackawanna County had a chance to get to know some of the candidates on the ballot.

From Your Local Election Headquarters, municipal elections typically bring a low voter turnout.

But at Wednesday night's forum at the University of Scranton, the maintenance staff had to bring out more chairs and it was still standing-room only.

The League of Women Voters of Lackawanna County put on these debates with Scranton Mayor candidates Bill Courtright, Jim Mulligan, and Gary St. Fleur, as well as Lackawanna County District Attorney candidates Gene Talerico and Mark Powell.

The League of Women Voters of Lackawanna County is holding two more debates next Wednesday at the University of Scranton (Kane Forum, 2nd floor of Edward Leahy Hall).

You can meet the candidates running for Scranton City Council at 6 p.m. and Scranton School Director at 7:15 p.m.
