Update: Couple Facing Charges After Puppy Found in Trash Can

Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County -- A Schuylkill County couple is facing charges after police said a puppy in their care wound up in a garbage can.

The dog's original owners saw our story that aired on Monday, and they gave police the information they needed to track down the pair.

Brent Evans and Wendy St. Peter, both of Mahanoy City, are facing animal cruelty charges.

A woman rescued little Piper from a trash can outside Mahanoy Area High School.

Another woman gave the puppy a forever home, and Piper's original owners are happy she's in good hands.

Police said this is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with additional information is asked to call the Mahanoy City Police Department at (570)773-2310.
