"Trumpocrats" Reflect on Year Later

(WBRE/WYOU-TV)It is nearly one year since Donald Trump took the oath of office. So how is he doing?  We posed that question to folks known as  “Trumpocrats”, they are lifelong democrats who never voted for a republican presidential candidate until last year.  The I-Team’s Andy Mehalshick has the story.

"Give the man a chance to be president. Let him run the country." Said Eileen Sorokas

Eileen Sorokas and her husband Rick never voted for a republican presidential candidate until last year, when they supported Donald Trump.

Eileen was a member of the Luzerne County Council and stunned many of her friends when she voted for Trump.  We sat with them last year as they watched Trump's inauguration and she says she would do it all over again.

"I do believe that all of the circumstances he's going through he's doing a very good job and holding up very very well."  Said Eilleen  Sorokas

And what about  the seemingly never ending controversy regarding  his tweets and comments that some say are not be fitting the president of the united states.

"It doesn't bother me because i know it's trump. I mean I got to accept Trump for the way he is." Added Eileen

But what about President Trump's legislative agenda?. What would they like to see?

"We are looking to see if he can improve healthcare. I know it failed the first time but I think it's all got to be tweeked a little bit more for senior citizens." added Rick Sorokas

"Well I think Donald Trump has been Donald Trump"

Dr. Dave Sosar is a Political Science Professor at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre. He thinks Trump will be Trump moving forward..

"I don't think it loses him his base one bit. It loses those people who are going to make those decisions about whether they want to support somebody Donald Trump goes out for and supports for congress and senate." Said Dr. Sosar.

Dr. Sosar believes that Mr. Trump was elected in large part, because voters wanted a president who is not afraid to speak his mind.
