Train Derailment in Scranton Overnight

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Crews in Lackawanna County are cleaning up after an overnight train derailment .
 

According to officials with the  Delaware Lackawanna railroad -- the company that operates the line--- several train cars derailed overnight.

It happened behind the Radisson Hotel near the University of Scranton along Ridge Row.

They said it happened at slow speeds between 5 and 10 miles per hour.

  There were no injuries.  The train was not hauling hazardous materials. 

Officials say the train cars were carrying heavy equipment. 

They would not confirm where the train was going-- but say it was coming from Taylor. 

Other published reports say the train was heading to Lackawanna Energy Center Construction site in Jessup. 

Officials say other train travel will not be interrupted and are unsure when the line will reopen.
