Scranton, Lackawanna County-  Sidewalks were swamped with visitors this labor day at Lackawanna County courthouse Square Monday, tasting all their favorite Italian cuisine.
From fresh made pizza to an array of Italian pastries  and of course the famous porketta sandwich.

Pat Yanni of Unico  explains.."We first started out we had sixty pounds of porketta  the first year and we were amazed because we didn't think we were going to sell it and now this year 35 years later were selling 4500 pounds"

Unico national has been serving up their famous porketta sandwiches since La Festa Italiania began 39 years ago.

Unico is the largest Italian American service organization in the United States,
Because it's a service group, everyone working the-three day festival is a volunteer.
All the proceeds made go directly to charities in Lackawanna County.

When you finished chowing down .... many enjoyed the sounds of old Italy ..
Some enjoyed a dance with their sweet heart and others treated their sweet tooth to a  variety of Italian baked goods.
