Speed Limits Restored on Roadways in the Region

(WBRE/WYOU-TV) PennDOT has lifted the speed limit restrictions that were in place on several roadways in the region. 

Due to the winter storm impacting the region, speed limits were reduced earlier today to 45 mph on interstates and expressways in the region. All speeds are restored to their usual posted limits.
PennDOT is continuing to treat roadways in the area and will continue until roads are clear.

The restrictions were lifted as of 6 PM for Interstate 81 between Interstate 83 and New York State line. The restriction on Interstate 81 between the Maryland line and Interstate 83 was lifted at 2:30 PM. Also, the restrictions were lifted from Interstates 78 and 80 as of 6 PM. 


At the same time, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission lifted a similar restriction on Interstates 76 and 276, the mainline East-West turnpike between Harrisburg East and the Mid-County Interchange, Interstate 476, and the entre Northeast Extension, Interstate 476,
