Shamokin shooting suspect faces judge

SHAMOKIN, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) - Jose Colon walked out of court in silence. But inside the courtroom - it was a different story. Colon - charged with terroristic threats and 11 counts of attempted murder of an officer - told the judge to just give him five years so he can leave the arraignment

Colon is accused of threatening  his roomate, holding him hostage and shooting at police from his apartment on West Sunbury street in the early morning hours of February 27th. Police responded there after being called to a shooting on Rock Street. That's where they found the body of Kasandra Ortiz. Although Colon has not been charged in connection with her shooting death, authorities say he is under investigation for the incident.

Outside of court, we found the family of Ortiz. Her mother Angelic says Kasandra saw Colon as an uncle and they are still in disbelief she's gone.

"She always had a smile on her face. She could always make you smile. If she fought you, she loved you," said Ortiz.

Colon's bail was set at $1 million dollars for the attempted murder of law enforcement.
