This comes three days after a different 9-year-old girl was raped in the Heights section of the city, though police say the two incidents in are not connected.
Many of the people living on Prospect Street have been there for years and say nothing like this has ever happened. Cora Montoro, of Wilkes-Barre, says "you never locked you door either, but now you do." Art Cool, also of Wilkes-Barre, adds "in the last 5 years it's gone down hill, really."
Wilkes-Barre police wouldn't comment as to whether or not they arrested or charged anyone in connection with this case, but neighbors believe he was arrested and released. Police say there is no reason for the public to be afraid because in both cases the children knew the suspects.
