The school board accepted the resignation of William King during a special meeting on Monday night.
The announcement comes after two other administrators resigned last week over harassment by school directors.
Tensions flared when Scranton School Board President Kathleen McGuigan took a stance against what she called "destructive practices."
McGuigan accused Director Lyn Ruane of violating the district's anti-nepotism policy when she voted in favor of hiring her first cousin as a clerk.
The school board president also took a shot at Director Cy Douaihy, claiming that he tried to force the schools to buy textbooks that the teachers did not want or need.
McGuigan said the school board needs to reestablish its chain of command and make decisions with the children and taxpayers in mind.
William King's resignation is effective October 1, 2014. He will continue to assist the district during the transition period.
