Scam Week: Lottery Scams

 
It sounded like a dream come true for Anthony Oldziejewski from Wilkes-Barre. he had won national lottery..
 
"I opened it up and I said there's a nice check here for $3,000 plus.."
It came with a letter saying he would receive another check for more than $81,000..once he sent in a check for $2,9000 to cover taxes and processing fees.  Anthony called the contact number suspecting it was a fraud..
 
Mary and Darryl Dickson of Sweet Valley also received a letter in the mail telling them they won more than $340,000 dollars in an out of the country lottery..
 
In both cases, the would- be- scam victims, realized this was too good to be true. They contacted law enforcement. The bottom line investigators say...no legitimate lottery will ever ask you to send money to get money in return.

3. do not converse on phone or via computer with scammers
