Wyoming Valley Riverfest 2014 wrapped up Sunday with hundreds of people paddling along the Susquehanna River. The annual dragon boat races caused quite a splash in Wilkes-Barre. King's College took to the Susquehanna River Sunday morning challenging Wilkes University in the 2014 dragon boat races at Nesbit Park in Wilkes-Barre. Eleven different teams participated in the dragon boat races - each made up of 21 team members. It's all a part of the "20-14 Wyoming Valley Riverfest.
The friendly competition was the main highlight Sunday, but the three day festival serves two purposes. Uniting the community and improving the quality of life in the region. The Riverfront Parks Committee hopes the festival engages the community in helping with the rehabilitation and preservation of the two historic and natural park lands along the Susquehanna River.
