Troopers say that a house on Strawberry Lane, Union Township was broken into and the some of the items that were taken are cause for concern.
Donna Rakus lives close to where the burglary happened.
"I'm honestly surprised because this is predominantly a very quiet neighborhood," she told Eyewitness News.
According a release issued Saturday the house at 174 Strawberry Lane was broken into sometime between early June and Friday afternoon.
The home belongs to Jason Drumheller, who is a police officer. Investigaotrs say that his uniforms were some of the items stolen.
"It's surprising to me," Rakus said.
Neighbors told Eyewitness News that Drumheller hasn't actually lived in the house for a couple of years.
State police say the criminal, or criminals, broke into the house through a window. Trooper said that once inside the house they made off with an Ashland Borough police uniform, a Frackville Borough police uniform, and a Butler Township police uniform.
Connie Gallagher told Eyewitness News that she knows the Drumhellers and she questions what the criminals were thinking.
"I wouldn't want to rob a cop," she said. "Why would you want to? I don't know what they were thinking."
Gallagher said she believes whoever is responsible for the burglary had some courage to steal from a police officer. She said with them still on the loose she worries for her safety.
"It's scary," Gallagher said. "I have two small kids so it's scary."
Troopers said the suspect, or suspects, also took sports memorabilia.
If you have any information about the incident you're asked to call police.
