Wilkes-Barre Township, Luzerne County- Wilkes-Barre Township Police are warning drivers, especially women, to be on alert for a bogus police officer. A 19 year old woman was pulled over on Sunday just before noon on Highland Park Boulevard. The woman, named Emily, told The I-Team, "I just knew this wasn't right. He kept insisting that I get out of the car and would not show me any identification."  Emily drove off and called 9-1-1. Wilkes-Barre Township Police Sergeant Mark Hampton offered some safety tips in the aftermath of the incident. He said, "Don't be afraid to ask for identification. A real officer will understand. When in doubt call 9-1-1 and safely pull away and drive to a public area." Sergeant Hampton added, "Most police departments do not use unmarked cruisers do to traffic stops unless there is an emergency situation. Our department policy forbids such a thing unless there is an emergency situation unfolding in a certain area."  Hampton also said, "The bad guys can get police lights and uniforms just about anywhere so that is not always an indication that they are the real deal. When in doubt call 9-1-1 because they will know if there is an actual traffic stop being conducted in your area."
