Pocono reverend collecting cards for prisoners

MOUNT POCONO, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) -- A reverend from the Poconos is taking on a unique project.  He's collecting greeting cards for prisoners.

Reverend Rob McMahon has been counseling inmates for 12 years.  The Mount Pocono man said their families suffer just as much, if not more, while their loved ones are locked up.

So he posted a plea on Facebook, asking people to find it in their hearts to gather a few cards, and it didn't take long for the packages to start piling up at his front door.

"They're residents, they're people, they screwed up, yes, but any of us could be there at any moment!" said Reverend McMahon.

The reverend told Eyewitness News that he has collected about 3,000 cards so far, and he expects to receive another 2,000 before he delivers them to the Monroe County Prison next week.

Cards can be mailed or dropped off to: 152 Fairview Ave, Mount Pocono, PA 18344.
