Plymouth man behind bars for sexual assault of young girl

EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)- A Plymouth man is locked up this morning, accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.

A judge arraigned Jermie Lee Wolf, 27, Tuesday night. Investigators say Wolfe would use an orange extension cord to tie the child down and stuffed socks in her mouth to muffle her screams.

Police say the alleged assault happened multiple times when the victim was between eight and ten years old, beginning in 2011.

Officers say things came together quickly after they learned about the allegations just a few weeks ago.

"We got right on the case because of the seriousness of the case," says Officer Mike Lehman of the Edwardsville Police Department. "It's a disheartening thing to investigate. It's a hard thing to investigate. It's things we don't want to investigate."

A judge set Wolfe's bail at $300,000.
