Pizza for Autism

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)--The oven is hot and the home-made dough is rising.
"Pizza by Pappas" in Scranton is gearing up for a busy week.
"I already have people calling in orders for Tuesday and Wednesday because we normally sell between the two days about 1,500 trays of pizza," Pizza by Pappas Owner Thomas Sheakoski said.
Tuesday and Wednesday as they serve up slices, it will be serving a much larger purpose in the community.
It will be helping the Northeast regional autism center at friendship house.
"The money raised doesn't go for salaries. It goes for the supplies. The event goes for supplies like iPads and other equipment over the years," Sheakoski said.
For some employees it's a cause close to their heart.
"It kind of runs in my family a bit. So it is a little personal and I love it, it goes to the Friendship House and I have had multiple family members that go there," Jolie Kerekes from Pizza by Pappas said.
Fifty percent of the sales price of each pizza will go right here. The money helps 'Friendship House' support it's mission to create a better quality of live for those living with Autism.
"It opens up your eyes. It's one of those things, the more we do it the more we realize how it effects the community," Sheakoski said.
Whether you're looking for a good meal or a good cause. It's making a difference anyway you slice it.
