Olde House Cafe in Dallas closing for good

DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)- A popular Luzerne County restaurant is serving its final meals Friday.

The Olde House Cafe in Dallas is closing its doors for good after serving the community for 17 years.

The recent owners purchased the cafe just two years ago. Among the reasons for shutting down, the owners say outside influences made it too difficult to keep the business going. Still, the decision isn't easy.

"I'm very saddened, it's an emotional day for everybody here," says customer Paul Marco. "Customers, as well as staff, and I wish them the very best."

"I just want the community to know that we really love you and it's been wonderful to be able to serve you," says owner Sara Wise.

Misericordia University purchased the property with the intent to explore if it can operate the cafe, or some version of it, in the future.
