Palmerton, Carbon County – The staff at Sunny Rest Resort in Carbon County is used to exposure in the Poconos but not quite as much exposure as they have been getting lately. National media outlets are buzzing about Saturday’s Bare Beach Beer Bash. "I think somehow it went viral on the internet and it took off from there and we're really happy with all the publicity that we've been getting,” said Resort Manager Halsie Shoemaker. Bar Manager Karie Vassallo said, "We've had Huffington Post, ABC News, Fox News come here. Seth Meyers talked about us on his show."

The festival will include beer from breweries far and near. There will also be a performance from former American Idol Contestant Hunter Monroe.

The owners say being nude give people a sense of freedom. Shoemaker noted, "A lot of people think that they have to have the perfect body to come to a nudist resort and that's not the case. There's all shape and sizes here and everyone is welcome."

They emphasize this event is not meant to be sexual. Co-owner Myra Mesher said, "If anyone is behaving inappropriately we would tell them about it but it generally doesn't happen. We have security here."

Tickets are $18 in advance or $16 if you buy them in advance on the Sunny Rest website.
