Newsmakers to Feature "Active School Grants" Nov. 14, 2010

       The Active Schools Grant program will be the topic of this Sunday?s Newsmakers on WBRE TV.  The monthly public affairs program is hosted by Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and I-Team Reporter Andy Mehalshick.

     They will have as their guests Bill Barbour, Public Health Program Administrator PA Department of Health, Jeffery R. Kile, M.D., M.H.A
Associate Medical Director Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and David Fisher Principal Hanover Area JR/SR High School .

    The panel will discuss the growing program of childhood obesity and the health risks associated with weight gain.   The discussion will focus on the Active School Grants program a partnership between the Department of Health and Blue Cross of Northeast Pennsylvania.  

    Eight schools in Northeast Pennsylvania are part of the program this year.   Fisher will discuss how the program has changed students in Hanover Middle School eating and activity habits.

     Newsmakers will air Sunday, November 14th at 5:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on WBRE TV.  The program will rebroadcast Sunday, November 21st at 5:30 a.m.   Newsmakers will also air Saturday, November 20th at 6 a.m.
