Forensic Mental Health Services in our area will be the focus of this Sunday's Newsmakers on WBRE-TV. The monthly public affairs program is hosted by Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and Lead I-team Reporter Andy Mehalshick.
Bugda and Mehalshick will have as their guests The Honorable Judge William Amesbury, Luzerne County First Assistant District Attorney Samuel Sanguedolce, and Kelly Petherick, Mental Health Crisis Unit Supervisor, Community Counseling Services. They will discuss the upcoming Forensic Mental Health training for responders in the area that will be held in March. The ultimate goal is to create a Crisis Intervention Team.
The Panel will take a look at what types of crimes are committed by people with mental illness and how Luzerne County addresses the legal issues for people suffering mental illnes. They will also discuss the alternatives to pursuing legal action against people with mental illness.
Newsmakers will air this Sunday, February 12th at 5:30 am and 11am. The program can also be seen on WYOU on Saturday, February 11th at 6 am.
