Masked Man Robs National Penn Bank in Butler Township

Butler Township, Luzerne County- The man hunt has been called off but the investigation into a Luzerne County  armed bank robbery continues..
Police say a man wearing a mask held up the National  Penn Bank on Route 309 in Butler Township around 9:30 Friday morning.
    He showed the teller a gun and demanded money.
    The robber took off in a pick up truck which was spotted by a police officer.
    The officer chased the suspect to Stockton, where he jumped out of the truck and ran into the woods in the area of the Dreck Creek reservoir.

Officer Brian Sabatini of the Butler Township Police told Eyewitness News "An undercover Hazleton City Police officer located a vehicle matching the description on the Stockton Road. He was following the vehicle as he was calling for back up units. The actor did pull the vehicle off to a cutoff on the side of the road and fled into the woods on foot."
    Police looked on foot and in the air before calling off the search after 1:00 Friday afternoon.
