Swiftwater, Monroe County – Local high schools students are getting ready to perform with Broadway stars. They’re working together to put on a show called Come to the Cabaret: A Celebration of Kander and Ebb.

Students in the Poconos got the dream opportunity. Madison Zahorsky is a Junior at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the arts. She beamed, "It's going to be a great experience for me to really witness what they do and how they do it, especially behind the scenes."

Dozens of students from Monroe County are working with Patrick Vaccariello (the Music Director of Cabaret) and several Broadway performers. "Sharing what we do with kids who are enthusiastic, I mean it reminds us why we got into the business and why we love performing,” smiled Tari Kelly. She has performed in several Broadway shows including Anything Goes and Showboat.

Penny Mass is the Co-Director and Choreographer of the production. She performed in Cabaret, Damn Yankees, and Crazy for You among others. She’s encouraging the student performers to follow their dreams. "Anything is possible if you really do follow your passion,” she said.

You can see the show Saturday night at 7:30 in the Pocono Mountain East High School. You can also see the students at the Buckhill Skytop Music Festival. That runs through August 10th.
