Lawrenceville woman arrested for stealing from disabled siblings

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)--A Lawrenceville woman surrendered to Oly Lycoming Township Police on a felony arrest warrant charging her with theft by required disposition of funds and receiving stolen property, both felonies.

Forty four year old, Stacey Merrill was charged by by Old Lycoming Township Police, Duboistown Borough Police and investigators from Lycoming County Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) and Adult Protective Services.

In December 2017, MHID and Adult Protective Services notified police that Merril was believed to be financially exploiting her two adult siblings. 

Merrill was the court appointed guardian of her siblings, both of which were legally incapacitated persons.

One of the victims resides in Hepburn Township and the other resided in Duboistown Borough.

Through the investigation it was learned that MERRILL had accessed funds from both
the victims bank accounts over the course of a year and utilized their money to pay for
her own expenses and items to include jewelry, car payments, auto parts, cable and
electric bills as well expenses for her children including payments to their schools and for
traffic fines.

After being interviewed, Merrill admitted to using her siblings' money for her own expenses. 

She was arraigned and released on $25,000 bail.
