MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)-- It's a popular, relaxing and healthy. As the spring sunshine tries to settle in, yoga is a great way to relieve stress and get your blood flowing.
One yoga studio in Moosic is harnessing some out of this world energy to help you better yourself.
In fairytales, a full moon is an ominous sight. But for Chelsea Manganaro, a full moon is a positive opportunity for change.
"The full moon is an energetic powerhouse. We want to use that power from the moon to create that intention of what we want our life to be," Manganaro said. She is the owner and founder of NearMe Yoga.
Each month she teaches a full-moon yoga class at her studio, Nearme Yoga.
Chelsea took up the practice a decade ago.
"I was looking for a bigger purpose for my life, and it's funny how the bigger purpose for my life shifted my entire life," Manganaro said.
And show she's helping others do the same.
I was kind of the king of not liking yoga and she pushed me a little bit. And then one day I kinda went for it and started taking yoga and fell in love with it completely," NearMe Cafe Manager, Scott Jacoby said.
Chelsea says for most, the key is being mindful.
"I feel like people take for granted what they already know to be true. That they need to take five minutes for themselves. that they need to stop and breathe. They need to just look outside and be grateful," Manganaro said.
And if you are, Yoga will push you to be healthier both physically and mentally.
"You're able to look at yourself differently, and that's what is really powerful about yoga," Maganaro said.
The next full-moon yoga class is this Saturday at 7 pm at the NearMe Moosic location. It's for all levels. So beginners and experts can all participate.
