PUNTA GORDA, FL (WBRE/WYOU) -- A second man has been convicted in Florida of murdering a Scranton native.

According to WBBH, a jury found David McMannis guilty of the first degree murder of Tara Ord Sidarovich.

The 19-year-old was murdered back in 2001, and her remains were found almost a year later in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Tara grew up in Lackawanna County, and she was a cheerleader at West Scranton High School before she moved to Florida.

After a six week trial, it only took the jury 50 minutes to reach a unanimous decision.

Tara's mother Sharon McPhillips said she doesn't believe in closure, but she does believe in justice, and it took her 16 years to get it.

McMannis is the second man convicted in the crime.  His co-defendant Phillip Barr was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2015.
