Pocono Township, Monroe County – While families enjoyed Camelbeach Water Park Friday some thought it was a little too cool for swimming. "Yeah, it's better for days like this to be indoors,” remarked Carina Camerina of New Jersey. She will soon have that option. Construction on the new Camelback Lodge and Aquatopio Indoor Water Park is moving quickly.
Camelback Marketing Specialist Kelly Joffe smiled, "It's really crazy how fast things are moving. It's impressive." The construction includes a hotel with 453 rooms, convention space, and the big indoor water park. It will have up to 13 slides. She added, "There's gonna be like the biggest, longest uphill water coaster in the US. There's gonna be some new slides that no one has ever even heard of such as the Venus Slide Trap."
Plus it will have a special transparent roof. "Which will allow our guests to suntan year 'round by day in the waterpark and swim under the stars by night no matter what the weather or the season is,” said Joffe.
When it is done, summer guests will be able to slip and slide in two waterparks on the property. Winter visitors will be able to ski down the mountain, right into the hotel, then go swimming. John Surita of New Jersey is looking forward to it. He said, "Now that I could actually come here and go to a waterpark at the same time and to stay here, it's actually a lot better."
The hotel and indoor water park are scheduled to open next spring. Camelback managers say they’ve already started taking reservations.
