Identity Theft Takes Dark Turn In Central PA

(WBRE/WYOU) - One man is being held on identity theft charges...but the story from Central Pennsylvania has taken a much darker twist.

Police have linked the crime to a dead body. They say the victim has been dead for nearly a year and a half.

Officials say 53-year-old Rodney Heaton is being questioned after a body was discovered outside 5 Corning Street in Lock Haven last week.

According to court paperwork, Heaton told authorities Teresa Hill had been deceased since July of 2015.  He says he left for a few days that month...when he returned...Hill was dead inside her apartment.

Heaton then says he wrapped Hill in an air mattress and carpet and tied it all together...leaving Hill's body on her own porch.

Seventeen months later....Hill's body was discovered by chance. A cleaning crew alerted authorities after they unknowingly threw Hill's body from a balcony.

Heaton told authorities he wrapped her body for that long so he could continue to use her money and live at her apartment.

In court documents, Heaton told authorities he had been living with Teresa hill's son off and on since 2015. He told him that his mother and moved away.
