Stroudsburg, Monroe County - Volunteers took turns carrying a cross to remember the day Jesus died. “It’s a very solemn day,” said Pastor Dody Siegfried of Saint John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg.
They stopped at churches all over the borough to hear the gospel. Tina Johns of Bangor said, "It really does show that the Christian Faith has not left the community. It has not left the society at all."
People from at least eight different churches participated. Denise Gonzalez of Stroudsburg said, "It's so great to like be with a group of people that all love the same person who sacrificed his life for us."
Some families have made it a tradition. Samantha Johns of Bangor said, "It's family. It's a community and I love how the whole community gets together." Her family has been going since before she was born. "It's amazing. It's just amazing,” she smiled.
