Group Wants to Build Skatepark in Wilkes-Barre Soon

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) -- A group in Luzerne County is trying to build a place for kids to have fun and stay out of trouble.

The founders of Keystone Rampworks want to bring an indoor skatepark to the Diamond City.

They say there are plenty of parks, fields, and places to go for other sports, so it's time to include BMX bikes, scooters, and skateboards.

The founders told Eyewitness News the new skatepark will also include a coffee shop, roller derby rink, and music venue for all ages.

But it's not going to be cheap.  The group needs to raise about $325,000 to get the project going in Wilkes-Barre.

They are working on securing a building for Keystone Rampworks, and they hope to open the new skatepark by the end of the year.
