Getting a taste of different cultures

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) - An interfaith potluck brings a diverse group together Saturday night in Scranton.

It's called a "peace meal" and was held at Temple Hesed.

Guests bring a food dish, as a way for the group to get a taste of different cultures.  Those in attendance gave speeches and brought up different issues to discuss peacefully.

The even united peace activists, Christians, Muslims, Jews, members of the LGBT community and non-religious people.

"I'm hoping people will make a friend or two and also get to learn about other religions, cultures, walks of life, that sort of thing," says organizer Tim Maloney.

The next peace meal will be in the spring.
