We "ring in" The new year some popular lightbulbs will be out. A controversial law on lighting is getting powered up on January first. Starting in 2014, traditional 40 and 60 watt lightbulbs will be out and new energy saving bulbs will be in. Halogen bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs, and l-e-d bulbs will replace them. That's because of a law signed back in 2007 by President George Bush, aimed at knocking out the old bulbs that only use 10 percent of the energy they consume. This law was met with controversy, because traditional bulbs are the most popular in the country. Last year, 75 and 100 watt bulbs were phased out by incandescent.
