Program Reminder: Northeast Sight Services is the topic of this Sunday’s Newsmakers.  Jayne Ann Bugda and Andy Mehalshick host the monthly public affair program.  They will have as their guests Sara Peperno, President/CEO, Kristen Boyle, Vision Resource Manager, and Board Member, Mary Trainor.  

This is the agency’s 100th anniversary in our community.  Northeast Sight Services is a non-profit organization that serves Northeast Pennsylvania, including Luzerne, Wyoming, Wayne, and Pike Counties.

 The Panel will discuss the many programs, services and screenings offered by the agency for the entire community.  The discussion will focus on the new Resource Center  and the many programs designed for youngsters who are sight impaired.    Programs for seniors and all community members will be discussed.   Newsmakers airs Sunday, February 11 at 6:30 am on WYOU and at 11:30 am on WBRE.




The Olympics are on WBRE!   We will have all the Olympic action plus reports every night during Eyewitness News- and from the Ozone at 7:30 pm on WBRE.


CASA of Luzerne County is hosting NEPA Sings! competition,sponsored in part by PNC Bank and Geisinger Health Systems

Twelve performers will be selected to compete in the finals on Thursday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the KCCA. The final competition will be emceed by Dave Kuharchik, host of PA Live! A panel of local celebrity judges will be announced shortly. 

The first place prize includes two tickets to a Broadway show in New York city with round trip transportation provided by Martz Trailways, as well as an opportunity to perform the winning song on PA Live! on WBRE-TV. The second place prize includes two tickets to a show at the F.M. Kirby Center and a $100 gift certificate good for dinner at a local restaurant. 


*Join us for Hidden History:  A celebration of Black History Month-   Saturday, February 17 at 2 pm on WBRE and then Saturday, February 24 at 7 pm on WYOU


*The Producers Pod wishes fellow producer and our friend Chelsea Titlow good luck and Angel Blessings as she begins a new chapter in her career!  We will miss you!

*Save the date- Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Ken Burns will speak at Bucknell University 


* Performance Music at The University of Scranton will present a recital by the renowned husband-and-wife duo of cellist Mark Kosower and pianist Jee-Won Oh on Sunday, Feb. 18. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Houlihan-McLean Center, Mulberry Street and Jefferson Avenue. Admission is free, with seating on a first-come, first-seated basis.


* On Sunday, February 18, 2018, Trails for Tails, a Leadership Wilkes-Barre Class of 2018 project team, hosts “Cocktails for a Cause” at Kevin’s, 247 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, from 2 to 4 p.m. All proceeds from the event will support the Trails for Tails project – creating a new memorial walking trail at the SPCA of Luzerne County in Plains, PA.
