Flood Ghost Town Will Soon Be No More
It is known as "The Patch" a neighborhood of about a dozen homes in Jenkins Township in Luzerne County-- Many of the homes damaged in the 2011 flood remain just as they were left when the flood waters receded-- Those homes will soon be demolished as Federal buyouts have been finalized-- Jim Brozena, a flood recovery consultant working with Luzerne County and several municipalities, said, "The buyouts are completed and as soon as weather breaks demolition will begin-" Resident Lewis Demark reacted to the news, "It has been a nightmare for us so I will believe it when I see it-" Jacob Romanuski grew up in the Patch and added, "It is upsetting to see these empty homes everyday--lots of friends left here-time for these homes to go too"
