Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County -- A Schuylkill County fire company is rising from the ashes after losing a ladder truck in a fire last August.

The Washington Hook & Ladder Fire Company in Mahanoy City is getting ready to purchase another truck, but it has been a long road to get to this point.

Firefighters will no longer serve the community from the historic location on East Mahanoy Street.

The assistant fire chief said talks are underway with the West End Fire & Rescue Company, and a merger could be the best option.

He said nothing is set in stone quite yet, but once the fire truck arrives, it will be kept at West End Fire & Rescue Company.
