Ferguson, Missouri -- A Columbia County native is living in the violent protest zone that Ferguson, Missouri has become over the past few weeks.

The Berwick High School graduate is sharing his first-hand account of what's happening there.

Dave Wright owns property less than 500 yards from where 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer earlier this month.

Wright said he was hit with tear gas when police tried to disperse the protesters, and he's constantly picking up debris around his buildings.

Wright said Ferguson is similar to his hometown in Columbia County, and he never thought something like this could happen there.

He and his neighbors are staying optimistic, and they're looking forward to a break from the violence.
