East Stroudsburg University in Monroe County held it's annual Veterans Day celebration this afternoon. A crowd recognized members of all military branches with speeches and song. They then walked to the campus's WWI Memorial Statue for a wreath laying ceremony.
Local marine - Doug Douds - spoke at the event saying, "It is a chance for us to remember in the midst of all the daily concerns that we have-- that it's time for us to pause from time to time and remember what we are as a nation and what we aspire to be as a nation and part of that is the great sacrifices that were made to secure the freedoms that we enjoy every day."
ESU has become a popular school for veterans. It recently opened a special center with services just for vets -- and the place has already grown so much that school officials are planning to move it to a larger place.
