Erin Hamlin wins bronze in the luge

Remsen native Erin Hamlin has made Olympic history as the first American to earn a medal in the singles luge event.

Hamlin earned a Bronze Medal in Sochi on Tuesday. The town of Remsen was thrilled and decided to throw a parade for her.

Two German competitors – Natalie Geisen and Tatjana Hufner – took the Gold and Silver.

Hamlin recorded a time of 3:21.145 total.

Geisen won the Gold with a total time of 3:19.768, while Hufner recorded a time of 3:20.907.
