Erie city council president indicted for allegedly taking thousands of dollars from non-profit

ERIE, ERIE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)-- The Erie City Council President is in serious hot water.

51-year-old Sonya Arrington is indicted by a federal grand jury.

The video shown above is of police raiding her home last month.

According to the indictment, Arrington took $70,000 dollars to "Mothers against teen violence" a non-profit she created.

Federal investigators say she used the money for gambling and paying for personal expenses. 

The indictment also says she took nearly $30,000 in disability benefits.

If convicted, Arrington could be sentenced to more than 600 years and be fined $7.7 million dollars.
