DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- It's the end of an era for a well-known pizza place in Lackawanna County.

Roma Pizza in the Viewmont Mall closed its doors for good Sunday night after serving the Dickson City community for decades.

Owner Giuseppe Amato said the mall is forcing them out, so Roma Pizza is re-locating to a new location in Dickson City.

Mary Ellen Nitch has watched the business grow since the beginning. Next month would mark her 36th anniversary as a server at Roma Pizza.

Loyal customer Gary Salak brought his nine-year-old daughter Parri with him to grab a quick bite while they were shopping.

Amato promises a bigger and better Roma Pizza experience, with a bar and sit-down restaurant in the works. He said he's bringing as many employees as he can, and he hopes his customers don't mind making a special trip to the new location on Route 6.

Eyewitness News reached out to the Viewmont Mall for a statement, but our phone calls were not returned.
