Easter brings boost in sales to local candy shop

POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) -- For local candy shops, Easter season is all about the money and the bunny!

In downtown pottsville, a hot spot to get your sweet tooth fix is Something Sweet Candies, an old fashioned candy shop right on Centre Street.

They have a wide variety of candy. Lacie's Little Ones, a daycare center in Pottsville, donated a bunny suit to the candy shop. When you come in to get your Easter candy, you can also get a free picture with the bunny.

The shop owner tells eyewitness news, holidays -- like Easter-- help keep the doors open.

"This is what pays the bills! Bunnies of all shapes and sizes, peanut butter filled, coconut filled, marshallow filled, home made easter eggs," said Christopher Hohman, owner.

Back in the day, the Easter bunny would make an appearance in downtown Pottsville when other candy shops like Mootz Candy were open. But it's been nearly a decade since the bunny has made its rounds in the city. If you want to see for yourself, the Easter bunny will be at Something Sweet Candies tomorrow and saturday.
