Crisis Intervention Training in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Police officers, corrections workers and 911 dispatchers are attending a "Crisis Intervention Training" session to help people with mental health issues in times of emergency.

According to officials since the training started a few years ago in Scranton, city stats show police "use of force" has dropped by 66-percent.

Coordinators of the CIT Training program have been heavily focused in Lackawanna County for five years but hope to expand into Wayne County next.
