Autopsy to be done of woman pronounced dead in Northumberland County crash

UPDATE: The Northumberland County Coroner tells Eyewitness News an autopsy will be done on the body of a woman pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

State Police say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and the crash. The coroner did not release the name of the victim. 

 

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) - A coroner was called to the scene of a car crash in Northumberland County.

Not only did the coroner get dispatched, but a state police helicopter circled the site for hours.

High in the sky looking down, Pennsylvania State Police are not saying what or who they're looking for.  The search stems from a motor vehicle crash and fatality, on Snydertown Road near Sunbury.  State Police say they are investigating the circumstance surrounding the scene.

The coroner was called to the scene around six this evening.

Snydertown Road in Augusta Township has been closed for several hours.  Fire crews had to redirect traffic as the investigation continued a mile down the road.

As night fell State Police Forensic Service Unit arrived on scene about the same time two police cruisers left the scene.
