Luzerne County-
"You can't experience harness racing unless you see it live. "
And that's exactly what Jennifer Starr, Racing Marketing Manager recomends leading into a busy 4th of July weekend at Pocono Downs Racetrack....

"You can watch it on tv or computer but unless you see it live you can't experience the excitement, the thundering of the hooves and everything." said Starr

And the hooves have been thundering this season.   Starr says just last week horses at the track set 5 world records...

"We are approaching our 50-year Anniversary in 2015, 50 years is a longtime for a track to be celebrating and there is a lot of history, a lot of renovations but a lot of this is our original stuff and you look out and it's one of the best surfaces in the country."

Once the sun goes down, the sky will light up in Wilkes-Barre with a spectacular fireworks display.

Tim spoke to Bob Dennis,  the operations manager for New Jersey-based company Advanced Pyrotechnics
His company provides fireworks for 6-8 shows a year in Northeast Pennsylvania but he says the landscape at Kirby Park makes it great.

"It's such a wide area, we're able to set up front, effects with multiple positions where we fire simultaneously or in sequence to create large effects across the park."

Bob says Friday night's show will feature over 2000 firework shells to create a completely unique 4th of July experience.

"We try to pick new things each year so that the show isn't the same and we do different effects, we're always stepping it up so to speak."
