Child Advocacy Center Opens In Luzerne County

Children who are victims of crime often have a hard time talking about it to anyone especially investigators- The Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center, CAC, in Wilkes-Barre will be a safe haven for children to tell their story and get the help they may need-- Shannon Peduto, the Executive Director, said, "We bring all of the parties here--no longer do the children have to go to several different locations to tell their story--no longer do they have to go to police stations, hospitals or Children and Youth Services because we will bring the experts to them--" The CAC was opened several years ago but was forced to close due to lack of funding-- The CAC was funded by the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office and simply did not have enough money to keep the center open-- The CAC is now a nonprofit agency and can raise funds on its own and seek state money"  District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said, "We need community support either through donations or volunteers--it is all about helping our children--"   Charity softball games are being held this week in Pittston-- If you would like t take part or give a donation contact the Pittston City Police Department
