Coroner Identifies Body as Missing Man

Road shut down after 'something of interest' discovered

DELAWARE WATER GAP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) - There's breaking news about the search for a missing man in the Poconos.

The Coroner identifies a body found in the woods of Northampton County as Kevin Woolf, who went missing on Tuesday. Crews say search dogs located the body.

For several hours, part of Route 611 in Delaware Water Gap was shut down. State police closed the road from the Deerhead Inn to Slateford Road in Northampton County to investigate.

Volunteers searched for the missing man for four days. Nobody heard from Woolf since Tuesday morning, when he told a friend he may be lost in a wooded area. A hiker found his abandoned motocross bike and helmet on Thursday, about 100 feet off the Appalachian Trail in Delaware Water Gap.

Before the gruesome discovery, search crews planned to wrap up their search that night after following up on several leads.

The cause of death is pending autopsy.
